How Nasacort Works

How To Use Nasacort

Tips When Administering Nasacort:

Shake well before using. If you are using the Nasacort spray for the first time, you will need to give a few prime sprays. To do this, pump the bottle 5 times or until the medication comes out. If you do not use the medicine for more than 2 weeks, you might need to prime the spray again before use it.
Before each use of Nasacort, gently blow your nose to clear the nostrils. The medication must reach the nasal tissue in order to be effective.
It may help to tilt your head forward and aim the spray toward the back of your nose, away from the nasal septum, and toward the inflamed areas inside the nasal passages. Hold the other nostril closed and sniff gently as you spray the medicine in your nose.
Try to avoid blowing your nose or sneezing for at least 15 minutes after using the spray.
To get adequate use of Nasacort, use regularly, even if symptoms diminish. It may a week or longer before the benefits of this medication are noticeable.
Do not increase your dose or use more frequently without your doctor’s approval.
The inhaler should be cleaned weekly in lukewarm water. Do not use soap, detergent, or another cleanser. Allow it to air dry completely before using again.
Do not get the Nasacort inhaler near a fire or open flame. Do not poke a hole in the container. Keep the cover and the clip on the spray pump while not in use.
Throw away the inhaler after 100 sprays.
